"Summer time and the livin's easy" -Sublime

I should clarify the title of this post and say livin is easy for just me and the kiddo's. We swim all day while Jordan, on the other hand, sweats his bootie off in the Dallas heat, knockin' doors 7-8 hrs per day. Thanks honey, we love you!

Just some random pictures

Thais and Skylee boy decided to have apples as a snack today. I love Skyler's lips in this picture, they look ginormous. He was totally lovin' that apple!


Any place we go, if Thais spots a dog, she immediately races over and wants to love that doggy all she can. I think she played with like three different dogs at the park today. Her love for them always tempts me to get her a puppy, but then I think of dog hair all over our house and I always change my mind. Is that mean or what!?! We just didn't grow up with animals, so I don't appreciate the joy in a pet. Too bad goldfish weren't more lovable!

I just had to post this picture and fondly speak about my daughter for a minute. I am completely fascinated by this little person, who has more personality than she knows what to do with. She defines the word social, and I often watch in awe as we go places, and by the end of our stay almost everyone there knows her name. Today, at the park she was just working it, getting to know everyone around her. These girls were playing on the tire swing and she went up to them and said, "Hi, can I play with you?" At first, they responded by saying that they go too fast and she wouldn't be able to do it. Thais quickly responded by saying, "I do it! I Can do it!" So, one of the girls suggested that they let her play. Thais was in heaven being allowed to play with the older girls, and by the end she had them playing all over the park with her loving every minute of it. Grocery stores, are a huge social event for her as she visits with everyone in line. Yesterday she turned to an old lady in front of us and said, "Hey Grandma, are you going home to you Grandpa?" Or the other day when we were riding the train she turned to the woman sitting by us and said, "Soo, how's in going?" The woman just looked at her kind of amazed that this little person was talking to her like an adult and they proceeded to have this great conversation! The amazing thing is how quickly she engages people and gets them talking to her like she is their long lost friend. I admire that quality so much! There are so many people I would like to get to know better and lack the fearless and friendly nature of my daughter to make that happen. Her baby blessing talks of how completely loved people will feel around Thais, and at three years old I am already witnessing her little spirit at work. She is teaching me about how I want to be, and I totally look up to this little girl!

I have to say, there may be something to this whole Texas hype. We are really enjoying our time out here. It's really green and beautiful, and there are many fun attractions living in a big city. Here are just a few of our adventures...



Ever heard of this place? It's called Sprinkles Cupcakes and I've always wanted to go there because I read in some random magazine that that's where the Movie Stars get their cupcakes for birthday parties. Jenna went with a few of her girlfriends in Hollywood and loved them, so me and a few of the wives here decided to give it a try.

So, I tried the Red Velvet and the Pumpkin. They were both really good, but honestly, not really worth the money. The pumpkin tasted identical to homemade pumpkin squares, which are to die for, but for $7 , I can make a whole pan rather than two tiny little cupcakes. Then of course I would probably eat the whole pan, so maybe this is the way to go after all!

I am all about the Zoo. We have a year pass to the Tucson Zoo and of course we had to see what the Dallas one is like. Sarah, Cassie and I got quite the work out walking up these monster hills in the Zoo on one of the most humid days we've had so far (all good training for my marathon :0) )

White Rock Lake




These are a few pictures of a little gem I found here in Dallas. It's called White Rock Lake, and it's this gorgeous lake surrounded by ridiculously large Texas mansions. This week I had a 7 mile run, but it didn't really hurt because I was somewhat euphoric as I listend to Andre Bucelli and soaked up the color green!

Oh Crud! I got in!

Yesterday morning(before I found out I got in) I went on a 30 minute run and told Jordan that I really hoped I wouldn't get in to the St. George Marathon b/c that 30 minutes kicked my trash!
Well, as luck would have it I got in, and this is going to be a wonderful summer training in that Dallas humidity :O) October 3rd...it's on baby!

I wish my mom was with me today so we could enjoy a cup of Calli Tea together, and I could praise her for all of the wonderful things she has done for me. Many who read this blog may not know my mom; and even those who do may not know the countless virtues of my mother. To the outside view she appears to have a quiet reserve about her, but to those (like me) who are privileged to know her best, know what a humorous,wonderfully quirky, and beautiful person my mom really is. My favorite of all her virtues is that she has a quiet wisdom about her, and so many times she softly teaches me valued and important lessons. One such lesson was taught to me in high school. There were several occasions I came home from school unjustly wounded (or so I thought)and I would turn to my mom in confidence vowing that this time, my self esteem would never recover. My mom would always start by saying something like, "oh Danielly, I just think you are wonderful" but before I could protest too hard, she would always remind me that true self worth only comes through a close relationship with Heavenly Father. She taught that I needed to focus more on what God thinks, rather than anyone else in my life. I can honestly say that through out my life I have taken that advice to heart. It's not that I don't have moments where I feel unjustly wounded, but because of the advice of my mom, I internalize things much differently and I never lose sight of who I am. Mom, I can't tell you how priceless your wisdom has been for me! You've always been my biggest fan and I know that Heavenly Father gave me the perfect mother for me.

First Impression of Texas

Our first night in Texas was at a La Quinta inn in Odessa (yes Odessa, I totally picked to stay there because of the cool name :O) ) and we awoke the next morning to a spread of Texas shaped waffles! Wow Texas, you really love your state!
