When did Counting Crows decide to entirely change their music?

Last night my main squeeze and I went to the Maroon5/ Counting Crows concert in Phoenix. I bought these tickets for Jordan's birthday because we've always wanted to go to a Counting Crows concert together, and Maroon5 was just kind of a bonus..Well it was a good thing Maroon 5 was there (they were awesome actually) because Counting Crows BOMBED. You know it's bad when the final act starts preforming and people start leaving in droves. Jordan and I stayed for like three or four of their songs and then decided to leave because 1. Though they were singing hits, it took us almost the entire song to even recognize what he was singing.
2. Some teenage kids decided to start smoking pot right by us as Counting Crows started and I was worried that Skyler was pretty much getting high.
Anyhoo, I think Adam Duritz must be sick of singing the same ole' songs and has decided to add this weird interpretive element to his music...But that's not what made you famous Adam, so stick to the Raw good stuff that we all know and love! That being said, Maroon 5 rocked!

A wonderful Birthday!

I have to give it to my husband, he pulled off an awesome birthday for me this year! We decided to celebrate my birthday on Friday, rather than Thursday, because of work. So I woke up Friday morning to Thais running into my room yelling, "Come get waffles Mama, It's yummy!" Jordan made me a wonderful breakfast complete with eggs, waffles, bacon and hot chocolate and there was a really sweet card that talked about how this August marks nine years that we've known each other and nine years since our first kiss(this will be important later). So, that night, Jordan told me we were going out for dinner and much to my surprise, he took me to Pima College (a Junior College by my old apartment where we used to play basketball) and there on the courts was a table( with rose petals and all) set up for dinner in the exact place we had our first kiss nine years ago. He had his young men wait on us and they were so cute about the whole thing..It was awesome!

We were offered White or Red sparkling Grape Juice..

Through out dinner, the boys each brought me a pink rose (9 total).

Here I am with all of our outstanding "waiters." Thank you Jordan for a wonderful birthday :O)

Jenn and Tim's Baptism

My dad always talks about the top 10 moments that you have in life, and I have to say, this baptism qualifies as one of my top 10 (more like top three actually). Jenn and Tim were baptized this past Saturday (on August 9th) and it was such a beautiful and special experience for me. It was so neat to be able to watch their faith and testimony grow over time. I cherish the many discussions that Jordan and I had with them about the Church, and I admire their willingness to earnestly seek out the truth. On a way personal note, I can't even express how awesome it is to have my best friend finally know the real me. I loved Jenn in high school and we were close, but I always felt like my high school friends only knew a small portion of who I really was. Going through this process with Jenn and Tim has allowed me to share with them the deepest convictions of my heart, and it has been so liberating for me to know that finally Jenn knows who I really am. Jenn and Tim I love you and your family like I love my own! I can't wait to watch you both grow in the gospel and see how much this decision will bless your lives! Thank you so much for allowing me to share this special time with you!

Praying for Piggies

Let me begin this little story by clarifying that "piggies" means money in Thais's language (the term comes from her piggy bank). So today, Thais informed us that she wanted to go on an airplane and visit family (several family names were mentioned) and we explained to her that we couldn't go on an airplane because it would take too many piggies. Thais responded by saying, "Daddy I want airplane and I WANT PIGGIES!" (Jordan was thinking oh great! Now I've got two girls in my life trying to spend money) Thais did the cutest thing next, she folded her arms and said, "Heavenly Father, I want some piggies...Amen." Then she looked up after her prayer and said, "Okay, let's go airplane!" I love how matter of fact kids are..If you want something you just ask for it. So the real question is: Any grandparents out there wanting to make Thais's prayer come true? All it takes is a little piggy donation and it's a done deal :O)
